Carlos Olimpo Mendivil is full Professor at Universidad de los Andes School of Medicine and Institutional Physician at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, both in Bogotá, Colombia. Ex-Secretary of the Latin American Diabetes Association (ALAD), member of the Editorial Committee for Diabetes Therapy, Revista de la ALAD and the Colombian Journal of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Graduated in Medicine from National University of Colombia (2000), trained in Diabetes and Metabolism (2001-2006) and got a graduate degree in Statistics  (2003-2005) at the same University. MSc in Clinical Trials from Oxford University and PhD (Doctor of Science) in Nutritional Biochemistry from Harvard University (2006-2011).

His research, clinical and teaching work revolves around human metabolism in health and disease. He has a deep interest in how food and nutrition determine health, longevity and well-being.
