Dr. Dana Olstad is a Registered Dietitian and a Professor of Population and Public Health in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She is recognized for expertise in the role of policy in reducing socioeconomic inequities in diet quality and health. Dr. Olstad’s research has been instrumental in monitoring long-term trends in dietary inequities, elucidating mechanisms that generate these inequities and understanding their impact on the health of marginalized groups. Moreover, she is leading several randomized controlled trials to test the impact of novel policy interventions to reduce food insecurity and dietary and health inequities. She has received several awards for her research achievements, including the 2022 CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes/Canadian Nutrition Society Early Career Researcher Partnership Prize.
