Mads F. Hjorth holds a B.Sc. in Exercise Physiology, a M.Sc. in Human Nutrition and a PhD in Prevention and Treatment of Obesity and Obesity-related Diseases from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Mads has 10+ years’ experience as researcher from the University of Copenhagen where he left as an associate professor and Head of the Section ‘Obesity Research’ at the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports in 2021. He has published 85+ peer reviewed papers (H-index 37), co-authored three (cook)books about personalized nutrition for weight loss and am co-inventor on patent applications on the use of biomarkers for prediction of weight loss responses. He conveyed his research broadly, taught and supervised students and conducted human interventions and observational studies involving nutrition, physical activity and health in both Global South and North.
In 2021 he joined the Novo Nordisk Foundation where he is now Senior Scientific Lead in the ‘Clinical Medicine and Endocrinology’ department (‘Nutrition and CMDs’ group) where he helps to develop projects focusing on nutrition in the prevention and management of CMDs (Food is Medicine) with a diverse portfolio going from patients with diabetes in global North to pregnant women in Global South.
