Dr. Simón Barquera is a Mexican MD who holds MSc and PhD degrees in Nutrition from Tufts University. He has served as a consultant for international agencies, including the WHO, PAHO, UNICEF, and the World Bank, focusing on nutrition, obesity, and non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention. He played a key role in the development of Mexico’s front-of-pack warning labeling and other obesity prevention policies. Currently, he is the President of the World Obesity Federation and the Director of the Center for Nutrition and Health Research at Mexico’s National Institute of Public Health.
